Depending on the state you are from, there are regulations on restraints for dementia patients and patients in general. I struggled with the thought but in the end my dad was in danger of himself by pulling out IVs and PIC line...and wandering the hospital. One thing I discovered was that instead of the wrist restraints which causes this if not looked after...
insist that they use these instead...
He was able to still get an itch in and there was no marks on his wrists. Was a little difficult to get his fingers in there but sooo worth it.
